WHO IS TAMERLANE
Tamerlane was to Central Asia what Alexander the Great was to the Greek Empire – a dynasty builder and formidable patron of the arts.
He ruled in the 14th century from his fabled city of Samarkand, his court adorned with the most luxurious fabrics found along the ancient Silk Road: silks from Ming China, brocades from Persia, and embroideries from Asia Minor.
In a romantic flight of historical fancy, Karina created Tamerlane’s Daughters as an ever-growing ‘family’ of connoisseurs for whom exotic textiles are a way of life.
